Exchange 2013 backup/restore using VMware policy

Hi

I read that GRT is not supported for protecting Exchange 2013 database. But how about Exchange 2013 backup and restore using VMware policy? Is it working if I want restore full MS Information Store and not individual mailboxes from full VM backups? Or must I configure MS-Exchange-Server type backup policy?

Our Exchange 2013 running on virtual Win 2012 ( vsphere 5.1) server and our Netbackup clients/servers version is 7.5.0.6
