I have now updated the Monitor Solution Best Practice Guide.
This Best Practice guide is the best place to start if you are looking, reviewing, implementing Monitor Solution. It covers considerations, Suggestions, How To Tips and some valuable resources.
When implementing Monitoring and Alerting part of Server Management suite. The following items are areas that should be reviewed.
It is important to start to monitor what you need and add/build onto this where needed. I would normally start with the Top 5 Service Desk Incidents and drive automated remediation around those alone.
Summary on what has been updated.
It is important to understand how the Agentless functionality works within Monitor Solution. The Remote Monitoring Service (aka RMS) is the important part that does the Agentless Polling of the resources. The RMS is tied to Site Services and is dependent on those sites.
What makes up a Agentless Target is the following:
Resources within a Site + Resources Targeted by a Agentless Monitor Policy = Agentless Monitored Resources
So you will either need to make sure the site has an Remote Monitoring Service and if it does not you would need to Manually Assigned a resource to the site where the Remote Monitoring Service is located though this will mean the data will be polled across the network.
